When, by the power and action of the name of Jesus, a man’s prayer is heard, when divine assistance comes down to him, when his enemies are defeated and leave him in peace, when he is granted the forgiveness of his sins, when he is healed and restored to the state of unsullied nature, when his spirit comes into its own authority—then follows the giving of spiritual gifts in the name of the Lord, spiritual goods and treasure, a pledge of blessed eternity.
For Thou, O God, hast heard my prayer; Thou hast given an inheritance to them that fear Thy name. Thou wilt add days to the days of the king, his years till the day of eternity. He shall continue for ever in the presence of God (Ps. 60:6).
Then a man becomes able to sing to the Lord a new song. He ceases to be of the number of the carnal and natural, and joins the ranks of the spiritual with whom he praises the Lord in the church of the saints (Ps. 149:1).
