Archimandrite Zacharias: When man repents and applies Christ's word to himself...

Indeed, the soul of man - his heart - has its senses just as the body has its senses of touch, hearing or sight.
When man repents and applies Christ's word to himself, his spiritual senses come to life and he begins to see God, to know God, to hear God and to feel His presence in a way beyond description.
We cannot grasp God with our mind, but we can feel and live Him in our heart. God would dwell in the heart of man, and when He does so, man feels that he is entirely in God's Spirit. He begins to appreciate the language of God, he learns to speak to Him and to listen to Him. Indeed, the ways of communicating with God are specific to Him alone.
