St John of Kronstadt | A simple, pure heart sees...

As by the light of the sun we see the air, earth, water, and everything found in them, so by the light of the mental sun in our heart we see the world of spirits, the angels and God's saints, the Mother of God, the patriarchs, prophets, apostles, martyrs, hierarchs, venerable men, and all the saints. 

We see them with our spiritual sight (by faith) in the same manner as with our bodily eyesight we see the objects of the material world.

Thus a simple, pure heart sees, for instance, the Mother of God with the inward eyes in the same manner as the natural sight sees Her image or any other visible object.
