The healing and purification of the organs of human knowledge are brought about by the common action of God and man—by the grace of God and the will of man. On the long path of purification and healing, knowledge itself becomes purer and healthier.
At every stage of its development, knowledge depends on the ontological structure and the ethical state of its organs. Purified and healed by a man’s striving in the evangelical virtues, the organs of knowledge themselves acquire holiness and purity.
A pure heart and pure mind engender pure knowledge. The organs of knowledge, when purified, healed, and turned towards God, give a pure and healthy knowledge of God and, when turned towards creation, give a pure and healthy knowledge of creation.
